Our story

Built by teachers, not by a tech company.

Sophie and Chris have been teaching languages for ten years from a small school in the heart of Gibraltar. This app is the practice tool they always wanted to give their students.

Ten years. Three premises. One quiet little app.

Sophie Clifton-Tucker and Chris Hedley met teaching abroad, accumulating the lessons they wanted to bring home. Somewhere between Auckland and Tokyo, Sophie sketched the plan for a little language school in a travel notebook.

They came back to Gibraltar and opened it. What followed was ten years: Brexit (three rounds), a global pandemic that closed their doors and nearly broke them, three different premises. Their first proper classroom was a friend's office borrowed after hours. Then a former bakery, with Sophie on her hands and knees polyfilling and gluing cork tiles to deaden the acoustics.

Little English (Gibraltar) turns ten in 2026. Gibraltar's longest-standing independent language school. Still there, in the heart of town. Sophie and Chris now juggle the school with two children under three.

Why we built the app.

Our students kept asking us to recommend something they could use between lessons. We wanted to give them something that felt like a lesson with us, not a video game.

So we built what we wished existed. A practice tool that respects the learner. Just structure, large text, and Spanish from people who actually teach it.
